coming home....

the day finally came when he would be able to fly home.  Alot of paperwork and finding docs in UT and passing off physical therapy ect was involved but we finally made it home on June 14th.

A ward member picked us up at the hospital and drove us down to Seattle.  They we flew first class to SLC where Mitch, Morgan and Aaron were waiting for us at the airport.

our excited faces to go home

made it to the plane

Donna was scheduled for baptism the day we left for home.  Anson's last investigator.  The night before she ended up in the same hospital as Anson for her heart.  As we wheeled him out we swung by Donna's room to say goodby to her.

best visit!

President and sister Oaks were at the hospital as much as they could be.  They were there the first 2 days and stayed in a hotel like us.  When they got opportunities to come up for zone meetings or interviews they always came to visit.  Anson asked him for a blessing before we flew home.  They are the greatest people and we sure love them!  Turns out they live about a mile from Matt in AZ!  crazy small world

Then Anson got the best surprise ever!  His buddies came to see him and he lit up!
His trainer Elder Lessig, current comp Elder Jones, Elder Griffiths who was in the car with him and Elder Gockley who is from Lehi

also Elder Williams stopped by.  He was in Ansons district and was the first one on the scene.  He also was able to drive all of Ansons suitcases and his bike to our home.  Another loved person who helped us out alot!

He's walking!

We then eventually got him up to go to the bathroom by himself.  I had to hand feed him for the first week.  His neck brace wouldn't let him look down to see his food and he had double vision.  The food was nasty on top of no appetite either from the pain pills.  I brought Arbys and Wendys to him once so he could eat a hamburger,  but to open his mouth that wide was hard so we had to cut up his food and eat it with a fork.

it was painful for him
